Q: I noticed that there are only 3 lessons this month due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but I was still charged the same tuition as last month. Was I overcharged?
A: No, you were not overcharged. Starting from August 2024, we followed a flat fee structure. It’s simply your annual tuition divided by 12, so your monthly tuition is the same every month. In other words, you might have 5 lessons in some months, but you are also charged the same tuition. This is the nature of flat billing.
Q: I canceled a lesson last week. Can I get a refund or a tuition credit?
A: Lessons canceled by students are NOT eligible for a refund or a tuition credit. You can contact us to arrange a makeup lesson so that you don’t lose your tuition.
Q: The piano teacher canceled his lesson last week due to illness. Can I get a tuition credit?
A: Yes, that’s possible. When a teacher cancels a lesson, we will do our best to arrange a makeup lesson ASAP. If the makeup lesson date/time does not work for you, we will convert that lesson into a tuition credit in your following month’s tuition.
Q: I got stuck in an appointment so I can’t make it to the lesson today. Can I have a makeup lesson?
A: Unfortunately, we can’t provide a makeup lesson if it’s canceled less than 24 hours before the lesson, unless it’s due to some unforeseen situations such as a medical emergency.
Q: I will be out of town for 4 weeks. Can I not be charged for those 4 weeks?
A: For weekly lessons, you are expected to come every week except in those weeks when our school is closed. If you need to miss several weeks of lessons, you can either pay 50% of the tuition to keep your spot, or you can withdraw first and re-enroll later, but the downside is that you will lose the spot when you come back, and you will have to repay the enrollment fee.
Q: Can I withdraw in the middle of a month and get refunded for the rest of lessons this month?
A: We require 30-day notice for early withdrawals. Since tuition is charged in a flat-fee structure, we DO NOT prorate tuition or refund tuition even though you stop taking lessons in the middle of a month.
