Ethiopian American soprano Hanna Atsedewoin has gained valuable experience on the concert stage performing as a featured soloist in Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s concert entitled “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” where she performed the song cycle Heart on the Wall by Robert Owens.
As an emerging artist with the Milnes VOICE Studio, she had the opportunity to perform in the 2021 VOICE Gala hosted by Thomas Hampson, singing “Dream Variation” from Three Dream Portraits by Margaret Bonds.
During her time at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, she performed roles such as Monica (The Medium), Josephine (H.M.S. Pinafore), Lola (Gallantry), and Lady Beaconsfield (Jekyll and Hyde). Most recently, Hanna has portrayed Madame Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor), Adele (Die Fledermaus) and performed a partial role as Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites). When programming recitals and exploring new repertoire, Hanna is dedicated to sharing and performing works by historically underrepresented composers to celebrate their contributions and bring their rich, diverse voices to the forefront.
Ms. Hanna holds a Master of Music from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Ms. Hanna currently serves as a voice faculty member at Prime Music Institute.
