Hyunsoo Kim

Pianist HyunSoo Kim has performed extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, China and South Korea. A much sought-after collaborative artist, Mr. Kim has performed with eminent artists such as Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson, Miriam Fried, Dina Kuznetsova, Chantal Mathias, and members of the Cavani, Miami, Pacifica String Quartets, Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Boston Symphony among others. Performing over 50 recitals annually, he is a frequent recital partner of violinist Jinjoo Cho as well as aspiring young artists.

Concerts have brought him to such venues as Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, Merkin Hall in NYC, Chicago Cultural Center, Dallas City Performance Hall, Rolston Hall at Banff Centre, Shalin Liu Performance Center, Olin Hall at Bard College, Kumho Arts Hall, and Seoul Arts Center. He has performed in numerous chamber music series including La Jolla Music Society, Myra Hess Memorial Concerts, Chamber Music International in Dallas, Hudson Valley Chamber Circle, IVCI Laureate Series, Linton Chamber Music in Cincinnati, Brattleboro Music Center and Rockport Music.

Mr. Kim served as collaborative pianist and vocal coach at the Cleveland Institute of Music (2013- 2018) and Kent State University (2010-2018). He was also a studio pianist for Itzhak Perlman at the Perlman Music Program - Sarasota Residency (2018).

He relocated to Austin in August of 2018 to continue his work with the studio of Dr. Pasha Sabouri. He currently serves as a collaborative piano faculty at the Texas Strings Camp and Festival and maintains an active performing schedule. He is also the admissions director and a member of the collaborative piano faculty of ENCORE Chamber Music.

He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Delaware, where he was the recipient of John D. DeMartini Scholarship studying with Christine Delbeau. He continued to study in collaborative piano with Anita Pontremoli and received both a Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music where he received the Rosa Lobe Collaborative Piano Award. Other coaches and mentors include Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson, Peter Salaff, Julie Nishimura, and the Cavani and Miami String Quartets.

HyunSoo currently serves as a piano faculty member at PMI.
