Anna Yuan
Voice

Yichen “Anna” Yuan started to study piano, then she found herself strong interest and enthusiasm in exploring more of the musical world. Later she extended her training to private voice which brought her a great number of opportunities to perform at various local TV shows in China.

The opera roles she performed include First Lady and The Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte (UTA Opera Workshop), Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi (UTA Opera Workshop), Sister Genevieve in Suor Angelica (UTA Opera Workshop), Sister Anne of the Cross in Dialogues des Carmélites (BGSU Opera Theater). Other opera scene engagements include Musetta in La boheme (BGSU), Juliette in Roméo et Juliette (UTA), Susanna and Rosina in Lenozze di Figaro (China).

Anna has been teaching all-age voice and beginning piano for over ten years. Not only is she comfortable with classical vocal repertoire, but she also feels confident teaching contemporary vocal genres (pop and musical theatre). With the solid background of classical training in both performance and pedagogy, she is dedicated to promoting healthy ways of technique-building while also very flexible with various musical genres based on the student’s individual interests and needs. She specializes in choir solo audition, music college auditions, vocal competitions. Her students have done great over the years as several of her students had been placed in All-State choir and successfully admitted into college of music.

Anna is working towards her Doctorate Degree and received the Doctor Candidacy in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy at the University of North Texas under the study of Dr. Stephen Morscheck, Dr. Stephen Dubberly, Dr. Jeffery Snider, Dr. Jennifer Lane and Dr. Stephen Austin. Ms. Yuan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from Sichuan Conservatory of Music and received her Master of Music in Vocal performance from Bowling Green State University.

Anna currently serves as a voice faculty member at Prime Music Institute.
